When does the nostalgia turn out to be…an excessive amount of?

Vogue has been totally obsessive about Y2K-era every little thing for the previous few years, and now, one designer is pushing the boundaries of that fixation in a transfer that may solely be described as… an excessive amount of. Christian Cowan has launched an official collaboration with the tv present “Teletubbies,” giving the world the Dipsy-adorned boots we’re optimistic completely nobody requested for.
Off-kilter although the partnership could also be, it isn’t fully sudden: Again in in September 2021, Tinky Winky (the purple one) made his New York Vogue Week debut on Cowan’s runway — and, as any influencer will inform you, a correct collaboration is the subsequent logical step.

The capsule features a handful of tame items, reminiscent of denim jackets and T-shirts with photos of the beloved characters posing alongside vogue fashions screened onto them. However the merchandise that has us scratching our heads probably the most is the aforementioned pair of inexperienced boots: The shafts of the footwear function Dipsy’s torso — which is then topped with the character’s arms, head and dead-eyed gaze that sears into your very soul.

There may be, after all, an argument to be made in favor of the camp of all of it. Maybe all these boots have to make them appear much less eerie and possessed is the proper “Teletubbies” fan to return alongside and put on them.
